MFTCPC47_2016jun10

Hi, all, I'm back with this week's MFT Color Challenge! Are you ready? Here’s this week’s color combo: In the Buff, Coral Crush, Gumdrop Green, and Blueberry. All of the details about the color challenge are available on the MFT Challenge & Inspiration blog as well as in the weekly newsletter. The MFT Design Team will be on hand to provide plenty of inspiration to get you started.

OMGosh!! I love this color combo!!! Of course it said FLOWERS to me. I’ve been thinking of trying the stained glass technique of coloring on vellum with Copics and I recently saw a card by my oh-so-talented MFT team mate, Karolyn Loncon, that took me over the edge so I stopped procrastinating and dove in.

This card started with a
Stone Gray card stock base, then I spread molding paste on some Sweet Tooth card stock using English Brick Wall Stencil and set it aside to dry. Next I stamped Pretty Posies on Translucent Vellum and cut them out with Pretty Posies Die-namics. I colored the back of the flowers with Copic markers in the challenge colors—you have to go darker than the actual color since the vellum will lighten it up. The shades you get are really, really lovely and Copics dry quite fast.

Since my stenciling was dry, I popped it up on the card base with foam mounting tape, arranged my flowers and adhered them with hot glue—it’s virtually invisible through the vellum. Next I cut “hello” from Hello There Die-namics three times, adhered them together and popped it up on foam tape. I finished off with some clear Pretty Pink Posh sequins. I’m really glad I finally got around to trying this out—thanks Karolyn, for the push!

And that’s it from me today! Thanks so much for stopping by—see you soon!
